1983 – Graduated from Iv. Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University Department of Physics;
At various occasions worked first at Protvino Institute of Physics, and later at Tbilisi Institute of Physics;
Since 1984 – co-founder of the National Democratic Party and Member of its Principle Committee;
1991 – 1992 Chief State Advisor to the State Council of Georgia;
1995-1999 Member of the Parliament of Georgia and the European Council Parliamentary Assembly;

He left so unexpectedly… when he was needed by his family, country, and by us the most…
We did not fear anything when Dato was amongst us, we cherished life, and we believed in the future…
We were relying on Dato, we trusted him… we loved Dato very much…
Dato Cheishvili was always surrounded by many people … He was leading Tbilisi Representation of the Party; he was the nucleus of the Party, its heart…
Dato firmly believed in the work we were fighting for together…
With his truthfulness, courage and trust in his work, he would garner around him numerous people whether old or young…
He was interesting and close to people of various professions, nationalities and age…
Nothing can fill in the emptiness left by Dato’s departure…
But nothing can put out the sprit, the truth, the belief and kindness, which he left behind…
Dato Cheishvili was the man whose death was a loss not only to Tbilisi, but to the entire Georgia …
