As you are aware the modern Georgian history van be divided before and post May 26. On that day autocratic regime of Saakashvili was transformed to cruel dictatorship.

During and after violent and bloody dispersal of the peaceful Rally on May 26 several persons were killed and hundreds of people were brutally beaten and arrested.  In addition to more 300 persons who served up to 2 month administrative imprisonment, there are 50 persons still in jail with criminal charges. All of them were arrested for made up and falsified accusations, manly “resistance to the police”. It should be mentioned that in all cases so called “victims” and “witnesses” were policemen.

In spite of calls and demands of international community while nothing has been done to investigate crimes committed by representatives of Special Forces during the events, all made up cases against participants of the rally were “investigated” rapidly and innocent people were sentenced to the jail.

We would be glad if anyone will manage to change this regime by elections. We think that all peaceful forms of resistance are acceptable and should be used. Democratic Movement stands next to everybody who makes real steps to change to regime.
