There is a tense political situation in Georgia. The Numerous international organizations state and point on non-existence of the democracy in Georgia. Large part of the Georgian population is a victim of state terror. It is fact that under Saakashvili’s regime the country is heading to the dictatorship. The recent facts of the pressure on the journalists are clear evidence of it.

In order to cover up its criminal deeds the current governments needs the full control on the media. That is why it is using all means to block, control and use media only for own purposes. Therefore the state uses direct terror on the journalists who are not “controlled by state”. The results of this policy are the facts of the pressure on the Newspapers “Batumelebi” and “Guria News” and on the head of studio “Reporter” Vakhtang Komakhidze.

“Democratic Movement” is familiar with the methods of terror on the persons with different opinion used by current authorities and that is why we call for professional and independent journalists, still present in Georgia, to unite and organize Special representative group in order confront such injustice with the organization and goal oriented activities.

Fighting against independent media, freedom of expression ant thoughts is a fighting against own country. The unification and development of Georgia is impossible without Democracy.
