On February 13, the leader of ther “Democratic Movement” Mrs. Nino Burjanadze met the special Representative of the EU, Mr. Peter Semneby/. During the meeting in details was discussed political situation in the country. During the meeting was stated that there were not a single step made by government to improve the difficult situation in the country. Peter Semneby clearly stated the further closer integration with EU, simplified visa regime and free trade is directly connected to the level of the democracy in the country and concrete step made towards democracy.
According to Semneby, the government of Georgia is well informed about it. During the meeting was underlined that without the correct steps from the government the treat exists that instead of get closer to Europe, Georgia will further move away from it.
During the meeting Mrs. Nino Burjanadze informed Mr. Peter Semneby about the concrete facts of psychological, financial and moral pressure experienced by different citizens who do not share government’s opinion on ongoing political processes. Despite the direct involvement and demand of peter Semneby, none of the concrete cases (event of 11th of April in front of the parliament, Kakha Khandolishvili, amiran Bitsadze etc) were investigated so far.
