On February 17, the organizational secretary of the “democratic Movement” Mr. Roman Kusiani held a special Briefing in The main Office of the Party. According to Roman Kusiani, ‘democratic Movement” supports the idea Eka Beselia about the foundation of the “Organization for free Judicial system and Release of the illegally Arrested People”.

“As it is well known “democratic Movement” is one of the main victims of injustice in the country. The members of our party were and still are imprisoned, despite the fact that no one proved their guilt. They are pursued only for their political views and for fight against injustice. They are political prisoners.

We support this organization and together we will continue our fight against injustice.

It is well known to the world that there are political prisoners in Georgia:  The political prisoners under the government who tries to portray itself as a western oriented government.

We would like to mention one more issue. There fast and dynamic developments regarding not even fixed local elections.
During the last days there have been several different statements by some opposition parties, showing new reality.

Namely due to reach common candidacy on the elections, “Alliance for Georgia” is ready to review own already declared candidacies and be involved in totally different political configuration.

The parties’ supporting the idea of “Primary”, are talking about the necessity of the unity as well.

It is worth to pay attention to the declaration of the “national Forum” on starting the fight for better electoral environment, while declaring that they do not plan to participate in local elections…

Same time the representatives of the government, namely Giga Bokeria, publicly announced quit interesting new schema according to which opposition should be divided in two parts: so called balanced parliamentary and non parliamentary parties and all non-conformist parties, so called “marginal”.

According to their schema governments tries show that the western values – democracy, NATO, European orientation - is connected only with them and partly to the so called balanced parliamentary and non parliamentary opposition.

We welcome the idea of the union of the opposition parties if it is based on common goals, values, ideology or at least on common plans but unfortunately getting such unity between the parties planning to participate in the local elections seems impossible.

So sees the “democratic Movement” current reality in the country, without marking it as good or bad. It is just objective picture of the reality.  

“Democratic Movement” is not changing its principal position regarding the local elections and activities of the authorities.
This election is another farce with already started falsification and we are sure that it can not change existed reality in the country.

In order to save the country the presidential and parliamentary elections are necessary and for it the appropriate free electoral environment should be created.

Otherwise Saakashvili and his regime who lost more than 20% of territory, committed lots of crime, endangered the democratic development of the country, will continue its foolish policy endangering even the existence of our country.

We are continuing our fight, fight for free and democratic elections, for the creation of the democratic electoral environment, against unjust regime.

At this difficult moment as the way of solution we see idea of representatives of the society to organize “people representatives assemble” together with project of “public court”. People should judge the authorities and it should happen as soon as possible, stated the organizational secretary of the “democratic Movement”.
